Wynn’s offering would join a growing number of Nevada mobile sports betting apps.
The timeline of the sports betting app launch
John Avello, who heads up the sportsbook at the Wynn, confirmed that the casino hopes to have its sports betting app live some time in the second half of February.

He said he had been working on the idea of a mobile sports app for about two years, and that Wynn’s plans become more serious within the past six months.
The app won’t be live for the Super Bowl, but the plan will be to go live before “March Madness,” the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Wynn plans to start taking wagers via the app for the tourney.
Avello said he hoped to roll out full functionality for betting on horse races, as well, within the next six months.

Much like other sports betting apps available in Nevada, there will be a wide-range of functionality available to bettors via the Wynn app. Avello indicated that parlays, exotics and more could be accessed on the app.
“We’ll offer everything that we offer in the book, including horse-racing futures,” Avello said, noting that bets on Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup futures could be placed. “It’s pretty much the sportsbook in your pocket.”
The app will only be available to users physically located in Nevada, as interstate sports betting is not allowed in the U.S.

The market for the sports betting app
Sports betting apps in Nevada are often focused on the locals market, but Avello says he believes it will be a hit with out-of-state visitors and hotel guests, as well.
“We see it as not only a vehicle for the people that live in the state of Nevada, but for our house guests, who don’t have to come to the sportsbook if they’re at the pool or the club,” Avello said. “So we think it will be good for both those types of users.”
Avello notes the recent opening of Wynn’s Encore Players Club, saying “it’s like a sports lounge with all sorts of gaming,” such as craps and blackjack for wagering, in addition to games like pool and shuffleboard. He says the mobile app will allow people to wager from Encore without having to visit the sportsbook.

Avello said Wynn is working with Miomnias the provider for the sports betting app.
Miomni has experience with providing sports betting apps in Nevada, including both Boyd Gaming and Aliante. The company also provides mobile sports betting for Atlantis Casino in Reno.
